Father's Day Jazz Concert
A special Father's Day concert by the Todd Marcus Orchestra featuring acclaimed saxophonist and composer Gary Thomas. A veteran of bands by Herbie Hancock, Miles Davies, and Jack DeJohnette, Thomas is also the Director and Chair of Jazz Studies at Peabody Institute.
The performance will celebrate the band's 10 year anniversary with jazz standards, originals, and will feature the first full presentation of Marcus' Middle Eastern suite Blues for Tahrir. This new work chronicles the Arab Spring movement in Egypt and represents Marcus' efforts to pay homage to his Egyptian-American heritage by merging jazz and Middle Eastern music.
