Kiln-Fired Glass and its Applications to the Built Environment
Hosted by ~ Space Solutions Group
Program:
Attendees will learn how kiln-fired glass, a material produced using old-world techniques similar to sand casting, can apply to modern-day design applications in architecture with a focus on technical achievements for safety and design process.
Learning Objectives:
1.Attendees with learn methods for integrating kiln-fired glass into standard and custom glazing systems.
2.Attendees with learn methods for integrating kiln-fired glass in applications that require ratings for sound, fire, bullet and blast.
3.This course will cover the process of how a made-to-order material such as kiln-fired glass is handled through design development , submittal / approval processes with the contractor and end user; and highlight critical steps to successful project completion that include mock-up evaluation, lighting planning, and structural engineering when required.
4.This course will cover thermo-forming processes for glass manufacturing with highlights on mold materials and kiln design.
