Hilary Chaplain: A Life in Her Day
Winner of the Solo Show Award at the International Fringe Festival in NYC
Unconventional and outrageously funny, A Life In Her Day is a wonderful mix of physical comedy and serious theatre about a Jewish woman chasing the elusive promises of happily ever after. An original amalgam of Lucille Ball and Charlie Chaplin, Hilary Chaplain is a quirky physical comedienne. In transforming simple objects into human companions, Hilary's character gets caught up in an alternate reality. The show is a lovely, humorous portrait of a woman who wants the same thing as everyone else to be loved.
Hilary Chaplain is recognized as one of America's foremost professional physical comediennes, performing her original solo and ensemble work for over a decade throughout the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. She is currently touring A Life in Her Day which has won multiple prizes at festivals around the world. A founding member of the New York Goofs Hilary has appeared with them at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Medora Musical, and on tour at Wolf Trap with Bob McGrath from Sesame Street. Hilary was an original cast member in Bill Irwin's Largely/New York and also played a featured role in the 1994 Oscar winning movie Forrest Gump.
"Sort of a Lucy RicardoLittle Tramp hybrid..." - TimeOut New York
Hilary did a 5-minute solo turn which stole the show. She looked fantastic and brought down the house with veteran clowns hooting from the wings." Bill Irwin
