DIG DEEPER INTO THE SR 99 TUNNEL PROJECT
PRESENTED BY CHRIS BAMBRIDGE
Join Chris Bambridge, consultant tunnel engineer with the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program, for an overview of the SR 99 Tunnel Project and the world's largest tunneling machine. Chris will introduce the massive 57.5-foot-diameter tunnel boring machine and highlight the SR 99 tunnel work site and current construction. He will also discuss the proposal and contractor selection process for the project.
Chris Bambridge is a consultant tunnel engineer on the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program, where he advises on the SR 99 Tunnel Project. Bambridge is employed by Hatch Mott MacDonald as a civil engineering consultant specializing in the design and management of underground construction. Bambridge started his career in the gold mines of South Africa before returning to the United Kingdom to work on the Channel Tunnel Project linking the U.K. to France. Following that project he has taken overseas assignments, with his wife and son, in places such as Egypt, Lesotho, and Thailand. Before relocating to Seattle in 2009, Bambridge was based in London working for Mott MacDonald on the refurbishment of road tunnels under the Thames River and new water infrastructure projects in the London area. Today, he and his wife live on Bainbridge Island in the Rolling Bay area.
