On Tuesday, May 14th at 8pm in the newly renovated Grandstand, Mardi Gras Casino is taking you back to the 60s era with a live performance by Rock n' Roll Hall of Famers The Lovin' Spoonful. Combining the best of folk music and rock and roll, with a touch of country thrown in some of their most famous hits include "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream," "You Didn't Have to be So Nice," "Nashville Cats" and the anthem for a hot July evening, "Summer in the City."

The American Rock Band's name was inspired by some lines in a song of Mississippi John Hurt called the "Coffee Blues". The song "Coffee Blues" is a tribute to Maxwell House Coffee, which he describes, "rapping" in the beginning of the song, as being two or three times any other brand, ergo, he only needs one spoonful to make him feel alright, what he describes as "my lovin' spoonful" in the song.
