Death of a Salesman
Death of a Saleman, Arthur Miller's legendary American play, remains as sharp and meaningful today as it was at its premiere in 1949. Willy Loman is an aging traveling salesman at the end of his career -- gone are the days of charming his way around New England. As he deteriorates physically and mentally, we begin to see the price he paid in his quest to achieve the American Dream. Death of a Salesman won the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award. It helped catapult Arthur Miller to international fame as a playwright. The play has been produced in every major country, including China, and in more than 30 languages.
