The Pajama Game
Riverdale Rising Stars presents
THE PAJAMA GAME
May 2-12, 2013
Eight Performances Only!
When Broadway fans lament "they don't make 'em like that anymore," they're talking about shows like THE PAJAMA GAME. And now, talented teens of the award-winning Riverdale Rising Stars are proud to bring this great old-fashioned musical comedy to the stage of the Riverdale Y from May 2 through May 12, 2013.
Love is in the air at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory. But will workers' demands for a seven-and-a-half cent raise derail the budding relationship between the new superintendent and the labor grievance committee head? To the tune of a joyful score overflowing with rousing song-and-dance numbers like "Hey There," Hernando's Hideaway," and "Steam Heat," THE PAJAMA GAME is a brassy, sassy, bona fide classic of the golden age of musical theatre.
Featuring a cast of 35 talented young thespians ages 12 to 18 from Riverdale, Yonkers, Upper Manhattan, and beyond, performances will be held at the Riverdale YM-YWHA, located at 5625 Arlington Avenue (just off of Riverdale Avenue and West 256th Street), in Riverdale, Bronx, NY.

The original 1954 production of THE PAJAMA GAME ran two and a half years, and won six Tony Awards, including "Best Musical" and "Best Choreography" for Bob Fosse's sizzling Broadway debut as choreographer. The show starred John Raitt, and launched Shirley MacLaine into stardom when she briefly replaced injured dancer Carol Haney. A short-lived 1973 revival featured Hal Linden and Cab Calloway, and the musical was seen again in an award-winning 2006 production starring Harry Connick, Jr. and Kelli O'Hara.
