The Attic, the Pearls and Three Fine Girls
Portal Players Dramatic Society presents "The Attic, The Pearls and Three Fine Girls".
This comedy, first performed in Toronto in 1995, was developed by a group of five female Canadian performers: Alisa Palmer, Leah Cherniak, Martha Ross, Ann-Marie McDonald and Jennifer Brewin.
It is the story of the three Fine girls: Jojo Fine the dowdy academic; Jayne Fine the successful business shark; and Jelly Fine the artist. They are reunited on the occasion of their father's death, and when they meet again, their childhood battles are remembered and re-fought. A noisy mix of love and anger produces a series of comic and touching moments as the freshly orphaned girls struggle to come to terms with each other as adults.
Teresa Drew plays JoJo. Teresa has acted in many productions for Portal Players and was last seen playing Sybil Fawlty in an episode of Fawlty Towers. Debra Hamilton plays Jayne. Debra played comic roles in "Noises Off" and "Nude with Violin".
Melanie Anderson plays the baby sister Jelly. Melanie is returning to the stage after a pause, last playing in "Plaza Suite".
The Attic, The Pearls and Three Fine Girls opens on Friday, April 19th at 7:30 pm and will be playing every Friday and Saturday night up to and including Saturday, May 11th. Advance tickets can be purchased Mon-Thur from 2-6 pm at the Capitol Theatre Box Office, from the Rollin Art Centre, or online at www.atthecapitol.org.
