Tony Soul Blues Project
The Delta Blues Project was formed several months ago and includes musical veterans: Tony Parente on lead vocals, Matt Sambito on bass and vocals, Mike Kalenderian on guitar and vocals, Mississippi Bob Cramer on slide guitar and Phil DeLaine on drums.
Tony Parente explains, "We had all jammed together at one point or another and knew what we had to offer. All band members have an extensive background in playing Rhythm & Blues, Soul Music & Blues.
"When Mississippi Bob sold his business, he contacted me and asked if I wanted to do "something", I was all ears. This perked my interest as I wanted to do a blues project, So we decided to plan a rehearsal, recorded it for critique purposes & found it was was tight and we were pleased with the sound.
"This band is special, no ego's, totally dedicated to the music & the advancement of the group, they show up to rehearsal on time and prepared and it shows in our performances".
The Tony Soul Project takes "many of the standards of the Delta and surrounding areas and their influence and put a monstrous bass line and backbeat to make the likes of Elmore James, Muddy Waters, T-Model Ford, RL Burnside, Howlin Wolf, Johnny Winter & John Lee Hooker come to life."
"Our style is the modernization of old blues standards," said Parente.
"We also include a number of Jimi Hendrix blues tunes, as Jimi was heavily influenced by this type of music."
"We have been very fortunate. We have been working steadily since the beginning of 2013 and have bookings through the end of the year. We love doing benefits and meeting new people who become our fans.
"We are totally psyched for this performance. Concert?? You won't be sitting for very long I assure you."
