The Hot Flashes are an exciting and eclectic group fronted by three female vocalists who have made a name for themselves on the New England music scene showcasing their tight vocal harmonies, drawn from swing, jazz, bluegrass, folk, and blues, delivering pop and period swing tunes as if they were channeling the Boswells or the Andrews Sisters. The results are enchanting! These gals are dishy, theyre peppy, and can they ever sing! Plus they have a great backup band; Roger Williams soars with what I think is the most lyrical and accomplished Dobro playing in the business.

Based in Connecticut, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Seville has further enhanced his considerable reputation with this outstanding third full-length album. It opens to the pulsating folk- rock of "A Crooked Mile" with it's superb mandolin introduction and backing, then slows down with "The Queen Of Kerosene" / "the goddess of gasoline", the latter is memorable for its iconic lines, "you're a blow torch in the dark, a powder keg on a spark, you're the one that I blame when my heart goes up in flame" ... beautifully arranged and empathetically written ballads form the staple of Seville's repertoire and comparisons with Springtseen, Dylan and the UK's Sean Taylor are inevitable but not completely exaggerated given the many magical moments of sheer brilliance.
