The Russ Gershon Trio: Special Edition
Russ is joined by his long time compadre in the Either/Orchestra Rick McLaughlin on bass, and one of Boston's most in demand drummers, Luther Grey.
Doors open at 8 and sets will be at 9:15 and 10:30
The ever-wide ranging Mr. G will play tenor, alto and soprano saxophones as well as flute and sing a few songs for you in the comfort of his own studio. As with the Either/Orchestra, Russ assembles a jazz presentation that appeals beyond the hard core jazz audience.
Music will include Gershon originals as well as compositions by Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Arthur Blythe, Clifford Jordan, Mel Torme, Sonny Rollins and Duke Ellington, as one that the Monkees debuted back on their fourth album.
For those of you accustomed to Lookie Lookie parties here, this will be perhaps a more laid back event, dedicated sitting and listening with talking before and after the music. We will have refreshments and snacks, and you are encouraged to BYO of whatever you'd like to imbibe.
