Jon Langford House Concert
When you enter the Roots Hoot House Concerts music room, you are greeted by explosions of "outsider" art. The dominant artist on the walls is Jon Langford. Founder of groundbreaking punk roots band the Mekons and then moving to the states to lay stakes in the Windy City (Chicago) where he founded the brawny "Clash" country leaning insurgent punk band The Waco Brothers (and helped lay the foundation for indie label Bloodshot Records in the process), the Wales by-way-of-Chicago Renaissance man brings his outsized music chops and personality back to the Roots Hoot House Concerts scene for a special Sunday afternoon appearance on April 28. For this performance, Jon will be joined by his lovely, sometimes sidekick Jean Cook on violin. He WILL also be bringing a bunch of his great art for sale at the show. We're not sure if we can contain his personality, but this is an up close and personal show not to be missed. And bring extra dough for the art! It is a BYOB/potluck show which means terrific food to follow a late afternoon of intoxicating music. Suggested donation is $22. Tickets available shortly from Brown Paper Tickets. Check out Jon on the web at www.bloodshotrecords.com/artist/jon-langford. Check out samples of his art at www.yarddog.com/collections/jon-langford.
