Red State Of Marriage
Local comic actresses Julie Waggoner and Jeannine Haas - both known for hilariously portraying characters of all ages, genders, and sensibilities - team up on "Red State of Marriage", a new play custom-written for them by Peter Shelburne.
Waggoner and Haas play all six roles, in this exciting and unique show that requires multiple shifts of character, voice and costume. A funny, tender portrait of love and marriage, "Red State" follows the 20-year relationship of Kim and Katherine; Theo, their rebellious son; Pop, Katherine's cranky homophobic father; Buck, Kim's ex-husband; and Ricky, their randy handyman.
Julie Waggoner is an actress and improv comedian (Villa Jidiots and The Ha-Ha's). With Jeannine Haas, she appeared as multiple characters in Pauline Productions' sold out show Parallel Lives: The Kathy & Mo Show (2009-10). Haas is the Artistic Director of Pauline Productions Theatre Company; she most recently performed the one woman show O Yes I Will by Deb Margolin. Peter Shelburne teaches math at The MacDuffie School; his plays have been read in Chicago and New York City, and included in the Boston Theater Marathon. The play is directed by Toby Bercovici, who directed Northampton Center for the Arts' production of Our Town.
