Holly Pyle JAZZ FROM THE SILVER SCREEN
Phoenix vocalist Holly Pyle leads an all-star NW band in an evening of Jazz From The Silver Screen.
Showcasing favorite movie themes from the 1930s to the present day, the program includes music from The Wizard of Oz (1939), Oklahoma! (1955), An Affair To Remember (1957), Black Orpheus (1959), Breakfast at Tiffanys (1961), The Godfather (1972), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Blade Runner (1982), Two For The Road (1967), Casablanca (1942), Pinnochio (1940), Muppets From Space (1999), Batman Forever (1995), Shade (2003), Oceans Eleven (2001), Stormy Weather (1943), Phenomenon (1996), and Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971) and The Matrix (1999).
Celebrated for her soulfully graceful, liquid-like voice (Phoenix New Times), Holly Pyle started out as an opera major before studying jazz and psychology at Northern Arizona University. Now one of the most popular vocalists in the Valley of the Sun, Holly performs with leading jazz groups, tours with the progressive soul-pop band House of Stairs, and appears regularly as a solo a-cappella act using electronic looping to build masterful sonic creations.
Sharing the stage with Holly are NW all-stars, Bill Anschell (piano), Phil Sparks (bass), and Dmitri Matheny (flugelhorn).
