About Deanna Danger:
www.deannadanger.com
"The Warrior of Burlesque," Deanna Danger, is a performance artist skilled in many genres, based in Richmond, VA. Her sometimes dangerous, always crowd-pleasing performances have graced stages from her home, up and down the east coast to New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and North & South Carolina. She has performed alongside many of the east coast's best acts including, Jo "Boobs" Weldon, Trixie Little & the Evil Hate Monkey, and the World Famous Pontani Sisters.
Deanna has also been a dance, theater and burlesque instructor since January, 2010. Her studio Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio holds weekly classes and workshops in Richmond, as well as weekend workshops in many east coast States. Deanna is also an aerialist & go-go dancer and has appeared at "Trash" in NYC, as well as at Richmond's "Rvalution", and is a resident cage dancer at the Richmond goth/industrial/fetish club Fallout.
Deanna Danger has a classically trained dance background, reaching all the way back to 3 years of age. She learned ballet from students of Martha Graham, tap from former Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, and musical theater from original Broadway cast members of "Cats" and the movie "Dirty Dancing." She took national competition titles by the age of 7, and competed all throughout high school with her dance studios' select company, as well as high school dance team. After some time away from dance in college (where she gained a Bachelors in Communication, and Minors in Studio Art and Creative Writing), and some time being a career record store nerd, Deanna re-discovered her dance roots in Richmond's budding burlesque scene. She quickly shimmied to the top and is proud to help put Richmond, Virginia on the map in the burlesque, sideshow, and vaudeville community.
She has performed in the 2010 New York Burlesque Festival as well as the 2011 Jim Thorpe Burlesque Festival, Charleston Burlesque Festival, Asheville Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival. In 2012 she appeared in and taught at five different festivals in the US: the Southern Fried Burlesque Festival, Carolina Burlesque Festival, Asheville Burlesque Festival, Windy City Burlesque Festival in Chicago, and she won the 1st place "Crystal Corset Award" at the 1st Annual Pennsylvania Burlesque Festival in Philadelpha, PA! In 2012, she produced "Byrlesque At The Byrd," the first official burlesque show held in the Richmond historic landmark Byrd Theatre.
Deanna Danger is an accomplished model, actress, makeup artist, and graphic designer. Aside from producing shows & teaching around Richmond, DC, Baltimore and beyond, Deanna is also the headmistress of "Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School's" Richmond, VA branch, and is entirely overworked...and loving every minute of it.
