The Guild Literary Complex's 2013 Benefit: "Talkin' Blues: A Tribute to Sterling Plumpp"
About Sterling Plumpp

Sterling Plumpp is a poet's poet; his writings have a complex eloquence that radiates the power of word, image, and rhythm. As an educator, essayist, and blues poet, Sterling Plumpp has authored fourteen books including Velvet Bebop Kente Cloth, Ornate with Smoke, and Blues Narratives. He has edited two anthologies, Somehow We Survive, a collection of South African writing, and Steel Pudding: Writing from the Gary Historical and Cultural Society Writer's Workshop, and he is the recipient of two Illinois Arts Council Literary Awards, The Carl Sandburg Literary Award for Poetry from the Friends of the Chicago Public Library, and other prizes. It is with distinct pride that we honor the work of Sterling Plumpp with this special event.
