Pigspurt's Daughter at The Old Barn, Kelston Roundhill
Daisy Campbells one-woman show is part tribute to her father, Ken Campbell - one of the most unclassifiable talents in British Theatre in the last half century The Guardian Obituary, 2008 - and part exploration of the further reaches of counter-culture and beyond.
Having grown up repeatedly watching her fathers one-man shows (cheaper than a babysitter), Daisy Campbell is now marking the ten year anniversary of his death with a Campbellian monologue of her own.
Pigspurts Daughter follows Daisys surreal quest to go farther than her father. When Pigspurt (the daemonic side of Kens personality) is summoned through an accidental act of gastromancy (the rectal invocation of dead spirits), theres no telling what he might goad her to do
Daisy Campbell has become a noted counter-culture figure since adapting and staging Robert Anton Wilson's Cosmic Trigger in 2014 and 2017, and directing the 2017 KLF comeback, 'Welcome to the Dark Ages. Her talks and events are garnering a nationwide cult following. Pigspurts Daughter is her first full-blown one-woman show.
This is both a romp through Kens legacy of lunacy, and a quest for Daisy to make peace with the gap he has left. This funny, extraordinary show will twist your mind into knots while it breaks your heart.
"Pigspurts Daughter is a wonderfully funny, intriguing, mesmerising and alarming show. Beautifully written and performed by Daisy Campbell, who invokes her fathers eccentric, anarchic spirit in many more ways than one. A fond memoir, and a stunning comedic exorcism. Seekers: seek it!" - award winning playwright and director Terry Johnson
"Comedic, meticulously crafted genius and a joyful ride from start to finish - Theatre Box ****
