WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN EXPLORING ONE OF CALIFORNIAS MOST COMPELLING TERROIRS WITH JASMINE HIRSCH, GENERAL MANAGER OF HIRSCH VINEYARDS. THE STORY BEGINS WHEN HER FATHER, DAVID, PURCHASED THIS UNIQUE LAND IN 1978 THAT WAS AT THE TIME A SHEEP RANCH, FORMERLY HOME TO REDWOODS THAT HAD BEEN LOGGED LONG AGO. WITH THE URGING OF A FRIEND, HE PLANTED VINES IN 1980, STARTING WHAT WOULD BECOME THE FLAGSHIP OF GREAT COASTAL VINEYARDS WITHIN THE UPPER SONOMA COAST. THIS LEGACY WAS CEMENTED IN THE EARLY 1990s WHEN LITTORAI, WILLIAMS-SELYEM, AND KISTLER ALL BEGAN TO PURCHASE GRAPES FROM HIRSCH AND BOTTLE VINEYARD-DESIGNATE WINES.
THE VINEYARD ITSELF IS LOCATED ON A RIDGE AT 1,500 ELEVATION JUST DUE NORTH OF FORT ROSS, APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES EAST OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN. IN 2002, HIRSCH BEGAN BOTTLING THEIR OWN WINES. OF THE 72 ACRES THAT ARE UNDER VINE, 60 DIFFERENT PLOTS ARE VINIFIED SEPARATELY IN ORDER TO BETTER COMPREHEND EACH MICRO-CLIMATE. THE RESULTS HAVE MADE WINES THAT EXUDE UNIQUE AND INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITIES.
WE ARE EXCITED TO HOST JASMINE, WHO IS A KEY VOICE IN THE CONVERSATION OF CALIFORNIAS TERROIR. SHE WILL LEAD US THROUGH A LINE-UP OF HER WINES ALONGSIDE A SPECIAL MENU CRAFTED BY CHEFS MARK SULLIVAN AND ROGELIO GARCIA. IN ADDICTION, GUESTS OF THE DINNER WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE WINE AT RETAIL PRICING.
