HBHS Theater Presents: The Curious Savage by John Patrick
The HBHS Theater invites you to the Hollis Brookline Community Auditorium Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, 2018 to share in the 1950 classic, "The Curious Savage" by Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winner John Patrick!
"The Curious Savage" reigned as one of the most widely produced high school productions throughout the 1950s, 1960s, and 1980s (NPR). The family-friendly comedy centers on the eccentric Mrs. Ethel P. Savage, an elderly "failed" actress committed to The Cloisters by her greedy and manipulative stepchildren.
It is in The Cloisters where Mrs. Savage meets her new family of the chaotic and lovable patients of Dr. Emmett. There's the impressively tenacious Mrs. Paddy (who hasn't spoken a word in years besides listing off what she hates), the unsinkable Fairy May (a charming and adorable compulsive liar), the classy Ms. Florence (and her... son? John Thomas), the hyper intelligent Hannibal (and his awful violin), and the gentlemanly Jeff (who hides more than his face behind his right hand).
With the help of her new family, Mrs. Savage seeks a bit of mischief on her "brood", and perhaps heal some wounds along the way.
