AN EVENING WITH CLARICE 2
AN EVENING WITH CLARICE
TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 2019 | 7:30 PM | Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, Trinity University Pre-Concert Talk @ 7:00 PM
Clarice Assad is quite simply a phenomenon who has streaked across the worlds musical landscape like one of those comets that appears just once in a lifetime Latin Jazz Network
Ever since her sensational San Antonio Debut with SOLI in 2016, Assad and the Ensemble have been planning a long-term and multi-phased collaboration to include concerts in San Antonio, a National Tour of the program, and a recording project to memorialize this unique and genre-bending collaboration. For the occasion Ms. Assad composed a truly unique work entitled Synthetico. This four-movement new work utilizes the exciting Voice Box technology, which harmonizes, alters and ads special effects to vocals, enhancing a single vocal line into a chorus of singers. The program will also feature original arrangements of some her favorite songs by Argentinian bandoneon master Astor Piazzolla, Brazilian samba legend Milton Nascimento & Marcio Borges, two of Assads good friends composers Gabriel Levy and Thiago Amud, as well as some of Assads own earlier compositions such as Azure, Back to Our Roots Suite, Last Song, and Between Earth and Sky with the composer joining SOLI on vocals and percussion. In addition to these new works SOLI and Assad will give a repeat performance of her 2016 work ELEMENTOS, which was commissioned by the Ensemble.
