Barika is a 6 piece funky, dubbed out, psychedelic West African flavored band from Burlington, Vermont. The group is led by Craig Myers who, in addition to leading Barika on the N'Goni, is also a current member of the Mike Gordons band, and was one of the original founding members of Rubblebucket. He has performed alongside many artists and bands including Midnight, Toubab Krewe, Djeneba Seck, and John Brown's Body.
Guitarist Rob Compa of Dopapod fame joins Barika for this performance.

One of the exciting additions to the New England music scene in the last year has been that of The Boogalistics, the funky Western Mass-based soul-jazz quintet (plus occasional guests). This groovy ensemble harkens back to the days of '60s Prestige and Blue Note sides, where the funk was deep, the blues was soulful and the jazz was danceable. An ear to their current repertoire shows their influences: Melvin Sparks (of whom's trio drummer Justin Tomsevic was a part of), Lou Donaldson, Rusty Bryant, Reuben Wilson, Kool & the Gang (filtered through Grant Green) and their gorgeous version of the Yusef Lateef/Kenny Barron gem "Nubian Lady". Many of the tunes will be familiar to hip-hop heads as well, as they have been sampled in classic productions. This band will have you dancing and foot-tapping to grooves you love and the soloists (including keys prodigy Parker McQueeny, brilliant saxman Ed Linehan and ace guitarist Nico D'Amico) will have you hearing these stone classics in new ways. -DJ Andujar (Peace & Rhythm)
