Get Riffed
Get Riffed is a performance based class that focuses on stage presence, ease of riffing, and finding your voice. This 5 week class will be held Monday's from 7:15-9pm at The Shambles Bar.
Class will meet four Monday's in a row with the fifth class being a showcase.
This performance based class helps students get comfortable on stage and focuses on riffing techniques and writing jokes through the form of improvising sets on stage.
Instead of meeting in a sterile class room- Get Riffed will be held in the upstairs of Shambles Bar which helps students get acclimated to open mic style settings.
THIS IS A 21 AND OVER CLASS- Located at The Shambles Bar- (2050 West Division) and drinking is allowed.
About the instructor: Ever Mainard is a stand up, writer, improviser, all around funny gal.
Ever is one of Chicago's top stand ups. Chicago Magazine credits her being one of the top 100 comics, Metromix/ Redeye says she's one of the Top Seven Acts to Watch in 2012, and Gaper's Block credited her to being one of The Most Influential Women in Chicago Comedy
Ever has appeared in the Just For Laughs Festival (2012) along side with Pete Holmes, Hannibal Bueress, and Jeff Garlin. Ever has also performed in the Bridgetown Comedy Festival (2012, Best of Bridgetown, Best of Chicago), Chicago Sketch Fest, Chicago Women's Funny Festival (2012, Headliner) and more.
Ever's monthly show "The Shit Show" has been called "gangbusters" by the Chicago Suntimes and 'Hip-(with) cross genre comedy.." by The Onion A.V. Club. Ever is also a cast member of the esteemed Chicago Underground Comedy and performs regularly at The Beat Kitchen select Tuesday nights.
Ever has worked with Maria Bamford,Nick Thune, Fortune Feimster, Greg Berhandt, Sonya White, Bill Dwyer,and more.
Her work has been seen on Jezebel.com, The Apiary, N.P.R., The Onion A.V. Club, and countless other websites!
Ever's spontaneous characters, quick witted anecdotes, and quirky mannerisms will have you laughing well after her performance. Her background in improv gives her the ability to create visceral and border line cathartic moments in her crowd work and off the cuff riffs. She performs regularly at The Beat Kitchen with her cast mates of Chicago Underground Comedy and as a co-producer/host of the A.V. Club recommended and Critics Pick-'The Shit Show.'
