Feet First Earth Week Hand Truckin': The Great Beer Hike
Join Feet First's Toast to Earthday with our Great Beer Hike and a cold beer on Sunday, April 21 at Green Lake's Latona Pub!
For the third year in a row, Latona Pub continues the tradition of showcasing a selection of craft beers transported by foot, bike, and sailboat from local breweries to the Green Lake area pub during the week leading up to Earth Day. The sustainable beer transportation events will culminate in a celebration at the pub on Sunday, April 21.
Volunteers from Feet First will deliver the final keg -- Hand Truckin' Amber Ale -- after a 10 mile walk from Two Beers Brewery in SODO to Latona Pub in Green Lake. A midway stop at Zeeks for lunch will keep participants' energy and spirits high.
Join Feet First for all or part of the Hand Truckin' Earth Day event, or meet us at the pub at 2 PM to lift a glass to the power of human-power -- all proceeds of the Hand Truckin' Amber Ale keg will go to support Feet First's work to ensure all communities in Washington are walkable.
WHAT: An Earth Day celebration featuring Hand Truckin' Amber Ale, a special edition draft beer brewed in tribute to people powered beer transportation. Volunteers will transport the ale 10 miles on foot in order to make this a zero-carbon event. The event will benefit Feet First, a non-profit organization working to ensure all communities in Washington are walkable. WHEN:
Sunday, April 21, 2013
HOW:
THREE WAYS TO JOIN
1. Participate in the Great Beer Hike, by meeting up at Two Beers Brewery at 9:30AM (4700 Ohio Ave S , Unit A, Seattle, WA 98134).
2. Join us at the half-way point, Zeeks Pizza (Belltown, 419 Denny Way, Seattle, WA 98109), with an expected arrival time at 11:15AM. We will leave by 12:15PM to continue 5 more miles to Latona Pub. 3. Or, just come for the beer. Meet at Latona Pub in Green Lake (6423 Latona Ave. NE Seattle, WA 98115) from 2PM-5PM for the Feet First Toast to Earth Day. WHY:
This event benefits Feet First which is Washington's only statewide pedestrian advocacy group. Latona Pub and Two Beers Brewery are sponsoring this event because a more walkable community benefits their businesses and makes a healthier, safer city. The proceeds from every glass of Hand Truckin' Amber Ale will be donated to Feet First. Since 2001, Feet First has worked to ensure all communities in Washington are walkable. Walking is a vital transportation mode that connects communities, reduces pollution, improves health and physical fitness, and allows people to explore their natural environment.
Please note, for safety reasons, we have to limit the number of people on the hike. Sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!)
