PAMELA JOY & John R Burr Trio at The Sound Room
Jazz singer Pamela Joy has graced the Bay Area's premier stages, including The Plush Room, the Herbst Theatre, The Razz Room and the Fillmore Jazz Festival. Her recordings have been featured on compilations alongside tracks from Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Aaron Neville and Frank Sinatra. Possessing the voice of a seductress and the soul of a comedienne, she has built a reputation on delivering elegant, effortless renditions of jazz standards, typically interspersed with fascinating historical nuggets, wry commentary and playful asides.
Bay Area entertainment writer and producer Lee Hartgrave proclaimed her last show "triumphant." Music reviewer Nancy Tierney reported, "With a voice as rich and smooth as whipped cream and honey, Pamela Joy held her audience in a trance induced by the lush, sensual sound of her voice, her quirky charm, and the subtle but skillful way she turns a musical phrase. And Cabaret Exchange declared, "The seductive warmth of her voice, her elegant phrasing, creative arrangements, thoughtful musicianship and her ability to swing with the best of them will intoxicate any lover of good singing and jazz."
Pamela will be accompanied by a trio of the Bay Area's best: John R. Burr (piano), Ron Belcher (bass) & Kelly Park (drums).
