"Altar-ing Death" | All Women Art Making Circle exploring the intersections of Life and Death
Altar-ing Death A Visual Enquiry through Experimental Arts
Develop a unique partnership between art making and your imagination, intuition and experience of death; how it has and continues to shape your life. You will experiment with various forms of art making based on your senses aroused by sounds, movement, images, ideas and words; to heal your pain and realign your purpose.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE:
Hands-on sessions of individual and collaborative art making prompted by story telling, sound, music, movement, imagery, exercises and word games - exploring how death shapes our life. Weekly instructions on unconventional tools, techniques and materials to make art from how you feel. Benefit of creating in and getting feedback from an all women group of mindful artists sharing a deep connection. Inspiration to develop a committed life of creativity to give shape to reflect, realign and rejuvenate yourself - and make a difference by sharing your work. Opportunity to finish at least 4 pieces by the end of the series and continue to work towards an submission for exhibition and publication in Fall 2013. Facilitate community art making at Mother's Day Festival & Market Show your work and receive constructive feedback from audience at a public event
Roke Noir, the artistic director of Siren's "Project Death", which started January 2013, will facilitate "Altar-ing Death". Roke is a multi-media abstract expressionist artist and teacher. Trained since the age of 5, first in traditional Indian fine arts and later falling in love with experimental mixed-media found object abstractions and environmental arts under th tutelage of Pamela Lanza, she uses art making for healing, community building and activism in addition to the sheer joy of it. Roke is also a manifestation coach specializing in women's creativity, mental wellness, entrepreneurship and empowerment.
