GREENDALE
Northwest Film Forum and Easy Street Records present SEATTLE PREMIERE! ONE NIGHT ONLY! Neil Young's new feature film GREENDALE (Bernard Shakey, 2003, 35mm, 83min.)
This "musical novel" brings to life the latest musings of folk-country-grunge rocker, Neil Young. Directed by Young (under the pseudonym Bernard Shakey) and filmed on his native Northern California home turf, GREENDALE creates a rural town that is a microcosm of a world in crisis. Shot entirely on Super 8 film, this homegrown opera tells the Faulkneresque tale of a beleaguered all-American family, the murder of a cop, and the evolution of a young girl named Sun Green into an eco-warrior hippie goddess. The story unfolds through new music by Young and his longtime band Crazy Horse, with Neil's distinctive voice singing the story as well as the dialogue of his characters. This special screening is the perfect way to experience the upcoming album from the legendary American rocker.
