Why Fiberglass for Windows and Doors?

Program:

Explore the next generation offerings in fiberglass windows and provide a comparative analysis of fiberglass and other framing materials. Technological advances have generated a multitude of wood alternatives with added benefits. As more mainstream window and door manufacturers introduce fiberglass lines for new construction and replacement situations, products have become available in a full range of energy-efficient options including low-E argon-filled insulating glass units and in a variety of styles from casement to single- and double-hung to complex custom profiles. Also covered will be code and design considerations in specifying an appropriate fiberglass window.

Learning Objectives

1.Learn how new innovations in fiberglass window frames help increase energy efficiency and window longevity.

2.Understand the durability and thermal impact of different window frame materials.

3.Explain what makes fiberglass a sustainable choice for a window framing material.

4.List important considerations in specifying a window frame to achieve life-span, thermal and energy-efficiency goals.
