A Midsummer Night's Dream
What Dreams May Co. in partnership with Queens Shakespeare present
A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE Directed By: Jonathan Emerson with Christina Sheehan Stage Manager: Maks Turner
The course of true love never did run smooth.
After another critically acclaimed season with productions of Henry VI parts I, II, and III and the smash hit Godspell Queens Shakespeare and What Dreams May Co. return to the stage for presentations of A Midsummer Nights Dream and Bare (Book and Music: Damon Intrabartolo, Book and Lyrics: Jon Hartmere). Join us for a season of epic stories. The first is one of Shakespeares most beloved comedies about running away in search of love and finding yourself (except for those who dont). The other a musical tale of two modern star-crossed lovers that as they struggle to come to terms with who they are, and who the world thinks they should be, seek answers from their church, their friends, and ultimately from within themselves. First up is William Shakespeares A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Director Jonathan Emersons modern fairytale design borrows from both Western and Eastern oral storytelling traditions to transport audiences alongside our young lovers (and everyones favorite Athenian community theater troupe), to a dark fantasy forest. The mortal and the faery worlds collide in the twilight realm as Oberon and Titania fight, the dazzle of their Faeries sparkle bright, and one and all are spellbound by the shenanigans of a certain merry wanderer of the night. Join us as we explore the ways in which an epic story can remind us of where weve come from, teach us, and sometimes ultimatelysave us.
