It's Time to Make a Change Election Revival
A Roof Raising Musical Event! food, drinks, and great music
With The IDEAL MAINE BAND & MAKE CHANGE CHORUS Songs in Praise of Activism and Change
Mayo Street Arts presents a rocking pre-election musical event: Its Time to Make a Change Election Revival with a 20-piece brass band and a chorus of singers performing a selection of jazz, gospel and traditional songs on the politics of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Its a Sunday morning gathering with food and drinks, music and short performances. The event will feature the Portland based Ideal Maine Brass Band and the Make a Change Chorus with special guests puppeteer and singer extraordinaire, David Worobec and long-time community activist Kenneth Bailey.
The Its Time To Make A Change Election Revival will combine the big foot stomping sounds of the brass band with a chorus of singers under the direction of Greg Corbino, a singer and choral director with the Stop Shopping Choir of renowned New York performance artist Reverend Billy. It will focus musically on the upcoming election with a program of songs, performance and sharp political testimony addressing the political themes of borders, gun control, disenfranchisement, racism, direct democracy, leisure and individual freedom.
Secular revivals exist across the country in many forms and serve to build community by combining music and performance with the pressing politics of the day. This will be the second secular revival at Mayo St Arts.
