Extreme Weather and How to Prepare For it -- Dr. Ray Weymann & John Lindsey
Wondering what's causing all the extreme weather we've seen lately? Is it rotten luck? Natural weather cycles? A rise in greenhouse gases? Warmer oceans evaporating more water into the atmosphere?
Wouldn't you like to hear what a preeminent scientist and our most respected weather expert have to say about this subject?
During the first hour of this presentation, Ray Weymann will describe the basic science causing extreme weather events and correct some erroneous statements about the science and extreme events.
During the second hour John Lindsey will focus on those extreme weather patterns of most interest to people living here in SLO County: what has already been observed; and what to expect. You'll hear about extreme heat waves, rising sea levels and surges, drought interrupted by heavy rain, increasing wildfire risks and impacts to health.
Dr. Ray Weymann is a retired astrophysicist devoted to climate science education;
Mr John Lindsey is a PG&E Marine and Local Meteorologist. He also writes about weather for the Tribune.
Both have given frequent lectures on climate science and its impacts.
