Peter Rowan plays music of Old and in the Way
In 1973, Peter Rowan and The Grateful Deads late guitarist, Jerry Garcia, formed a band with David Grisman, John Kahn and Vassar Clements. Their self-titled debut, Old & In The Way, became the best-selling Bluegrass album of all time (until it was displaced by the Oh Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack, nearly three decades later). It spite of this enormous success, their live shows, even back then, were rare, mostly due to The Deads heavy touring schedule. In the years since that time and the passing of key members Garcia, Kahn and Clements, has only made their legend grow - especially amongst the vast legions of Deadheads, many of whom were not even born in 73. Now, for only the third time ever (and the first, with this lineup), the bands principal songwriter and singer, Peter Rowan, plays and sings the music of Old and In The Way. For one night only, hell be joined by guitarist and singer Papa Mali, (who as the frontman for Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmanns side project, 7 Walkers, has his own place in The Grateful Deads legacy). Dave Easley on banjo, Rurik Nunan on fiddle, Mark Rubin on upright bass and Brooks Hubbert on mandolin, complete the lineup. Dont miss your chance to see and hear this one of a kind event!
