Classes and performances will be led by some great instructor-performers including Canadian National Fiddle Champion Shane Cook, Solas' Fiddler Winifred Horan, Mandolinist Joe Walsh, Guitarist Grant Gordy, Bassist Ethan Jodziewicz, Banjo Players Adam Hurt and Ben Krakauer, Songwriter-guitarist Joe Crookston, Guitarist-Stepdancer Kyle Waymouth, Old Time Fiddlers Judy Hyman and Rosie Newton, returning friends David Surette and Susie Burke, Dave Davies, Tim Ball, Paul Fairbanks, and Rick Manning with others to be announced. Instruction will be offered on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, singing and band at beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in a variety of styles that include Irish, old-time, bluegrass, swing, contradance, and folk. Jamming is a joyful and important part of the weekend - some impromptu throughout the day and night along with other structured jam sessions that cater to your stylistic interest and experience level.
The weekend will begin on Thursday evening with an opening unplugged Yellow Barn Concert featuring Shane Cook & Kyle Waymouth for one set and Joe Walsh, Grant Gordy & Ben Krakauer for the other set.
Workshops begin on Friday afternoon at 1 pm with two classes followed by a happy hour opening lobby reception, cash bar and jam in the La Tourelle Lobby from 5pm to 6:00pm. Dinner will be offered during the happy hour. Friday evening at 7:00 pm we will meet the faculty in a casual and short concert where teachers will present an overview and demonstration of their style and workshop topics and approaches. Jamming will follow the con throughout the hotel, late into the night.
Four 75 minute classes will be held on Saturday during the day and formal and informal jam sessions will be held during and in between the classes. La Tourelle will be offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and hosting a Saturday evening Lobby reception & jam with a cash bar, following by the popular Saturday Night camp faculty concert (open to the public) and, again, jamming late into the night evening.
Sunday morning there will be two classes with the weekend coming to a close at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
