FEATURED FILM:
CAKE GENERAL / 2018 / 101 minutes / subtitled / Sweden
In 1984, the small town of Koping was named the most boring town in Sweden by a popular TV show. Resident Hasse Peterson refuses to allow his home to become the subject of a national joke and sets off on a mission to drum up some attention-grabbing excitement. A man who struggles with his financial status and drinking habits, he decides to put the town into the Guinness Book of World Records by making the world's largest sandwich cake. While not technically a documentary, filmmakers based this film on an outrageous true story, and this heartfelt tale of personal fulfillment and resilience proves that we should be most hesitant to cast aside or relegate as irrelevant those who are already marginalized.
