FEATURED FILM:
MAKING THE GRADE / 2017 / 96 minutes / Ireland
MAKING THE GRADE invites us into Irish living rooms, music studios and churches where piano lessons take place to explore the bond between teachers and pupils, all of whom are enjoyable in their musical dedication. The students range from young children to adults, including a "heavy metalist" and a woman who agrees she has no rhythm. But regardless of ability or potential, pupils and teachers alike exemplify the film's adage from Ludwig van Beethoven: "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable." Full of warm, joyous humor and delightful personalities, MAKING THE GRADE celebrates the transformative power of music.
