FEATURED FILM:
SCOTCH: A Golden Dream / 2017 / Scotland / subtitled where necessary / 87 minutes
Rich, easy on the palate, with a pleasant lingering aftertaste . . . qualities of an excellent dram And this aptly describes Andrew Peat's documentary on Scotland's Scotch industry, the industry's vivid players, and what this product means to Scottish history and culture as a whole. The scope of this doc is impressive: from the distiller's friendship with local barley farmers, the proper way to taste the Scotch, the relationship between the casks and the end product, to the age-old debate of old whisky versus young whisky. There's even a chapter on Women & Scotch - with lots of Celtic personal stories throughout. You don't have to be a Scotch aficionado to savor Peat's lively, informative ode to his homeland.
