Teatro Milagro Presents ¡Corre Corre!
¡Corre Corre! Written by Ajai Terrazas Tripathi Directed by Sarah Andrews Choreographed by Gabriela Portuguez
Renowned for their incredible long distance running ability, the Tarahumara are the indigenous people who live in the northwestern region of Mexico. Inspired by the real life stories of Tarahumara runners, Teatro Milagros newest bilingual play shares the story of a young girl and her coach, who sees her potential as an Olympic competitor. Written by seasoned Milagro lead teaching artist and resident playwright, Ajai Terrazas Tripathi, ¡Corre, Corre! uses mythical imagery, dance movement, and poetic narrative to showcase a cultural perspective that inspires athleticism and perseverance.
About the Playwright: Ajai Terrazas Tripathi is in his eighth season of touring, leading the troupe across the country and navigating the variety of workshops and residencies. Past works include Mijita Fridita and Sueños de Futbol. Born and raised in Corvallis, Ajai is a graduate of Oregon State University, and also holds certificates in health education from the Multnomah County Health Department.
Teatro Milagro is a Portland based theater company devoted to providing extraordinary Latino theatre, culture, and arts education experiences for the enrichment of all communities.
