RARE & WELL DONE
John Howie Steak and Chef John Howie will again host Rare & Well Done, the Ultimate Whiskey Experience. In its fourth year, this exclusive event will feature 150 of the finest and most highly prized whiskies collected from around the world and served with perfectly paired fine bites prepared by John Howie Steak and Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar. Every Rare & Well Done guest will receive a JoyJolt keepsake tasting glass and a personal whiskey journal to record notable tastes.
General Admission and Ultimate Experience:
Rare & Well Done General Admission Experience $150.+ tax Every guest will be treated to a variety of culinary tastes including: American Wagyu meatballs with foie gras demi glace, Asiago-blue cheese stuffed red potatoes, Applewood grilled prime sirloin bites, Porcini mushroom soup with black truffle crème, caramelized onion goat cheese tartlets, crispy chicken bites with bourbon BBQ sauce, smoked salmon salad on house made crackers, baked oysters with bacon and smoked gouda sauce, fresh baked Huntsman cheese biscuits, pumpkin pie crème brulee, dark and white chocolate coated bourbon soaked pound cake bites and mini-chocolate panna cotta with port reduction and cherries.
These fine bites will be paired with a selection of extraordinary, hard-to-find whiskies, including Michters Cask Strength Toasted Barrel, Wildwood Spirits Co. The Dark Door, E.H. Taylor Four Grain, Joseph Magnus Murray Hill Club, Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style, The Glenlivet Code, Glenfiddich IPA Cask, Highland Park Fire, among others.
Rare & Well Done The Ultimate Experience $600. + tax Rare & Well Done will offer an Ultimate Experience pre-party from 5:00-6:30 p.m. for connoisseurs wishing to taste ten of the most expensive and hard-to-find whiskies in the world. A limited number of Ultimate Experience tickets are available include access to exclusive food and spirits available only during this private event that concludes at 6:30 p.m. Ultimate Experience ticket holders will have first entry to the main event that begins at 6:30 p.m.
Only Ultimate Experience guests will dine on crispy tempura lobster, seared Japanese A5 Wagyu, seared scallop with tropical fruit chutney, seared foie gras with caramelized apple, fried brie with bourbon-infused maple syrup and ancho-chili smoked shrimp with BBQ hollandaise sauce. The Ultimate Experience also includes one-fourth ounce pours of the following rare whiskies, each hand selected by whiskey curator Tim Lodahl of John Howie Steak:
-Hibiki 21 Year Old (2018 release): This Japanese whisky was named the Worlds Best Blended Whisky at the 2013 World Whiskies Awards ($850/bottle).
-Michters Celebration Sour Mash (2016 release): The six barrels chosen for blending this whiskey range from over a decade to nearly 33 years old. Only 256 bottles were produced ($3,700/bottle).
-John E. Fitzgerald Very Special Reserve 20 Year Old (2015 Release): This ultra-rare, highly allocated release is comprised of 12 barrels of wheated bourbon produced at the famous Stitzel-Weller distillery, original home of Heaven Hills Old Fitzgerald ($2,000/bottle).
-Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 17 Year Old (1991 release): This incredibly rare offering from the Pappy Van Winkle family reserve was barreled in 1974 at the Stitzel-Weller distillery ($4,000/bottle).
-Old Weller Antique (1970s release): This bottling is a great example of the gold vein bottles produced around 1970 at the Stitzel-Weller distillery ($1,400/bottle).
-Old Forester Birthday Bourbon (2017 release): This release was drawn from 12 year old barrels from different warehouses and floors a total of 120 barrels; 93 barrels matured together ($450/bottle).
-Jameson 18 Year Old (2017 release): This special blend of three whiskies have each aged at least 18 years in hand-selected American bourbon and European oak casks in Jamesons Midleton warehouse ($200/bottle).
-GlenDronach 24 Year Old (2017 release): This single malt was aged in a single sherry butt for 25 years before being bottled with an outturn of 659 bottles ($500/bottle).
-Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old (2014 release): This release was matured exclusively in American oak bourbon barrels and is the first whisky of this age released by Glenfiddich ($550/bottle).
-Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 5 (2018 release): This limited edition release from Balvenie is a vatting of 29 casks: bourbon barrels, sherry butts, sherry hogsheads and refill American oak casks married together by the distilleries malt master ($400/bottle).
