Through compelling, dynamic and experiential contemporary dance theatre, Facing the Light questions a social association with light as pleasing and spirituality as feel-good. What about the association between rest and darkness? Artificial light and its tendency to give us headaches, the vulnerability of being exposed in daylight, or searing, blinding light? Looking at how light structures our space and life rhythms, impacts our mental and emotional well-being, as well as researching the physical reality of light as electromagnetic waves transferring energy, we wrestle with the underbelly of light, searching for the good, inside the unpleasant.
Accompanying the work is Dayna Ellen's visual art show "Epiphany; Embracing Sky," which will be accessible during cSpace business hours in the first floor hallway gallery in addition to pre and post-show times.
Following the evening performances we will host a small vendors market curated to provide conscious Christmas shopping opportunities in order to spread some light.
We will also be selling 2019 calendars featuring light-themed images of the dancers by CRU photography. Pre-purchase them when you get your tickets and pick up at the show or buy at the box office pre-show or market post-show.
Market vendors include: Leaf&Lyre McLennan Flyfishing Ceramics Artist Jana Norris Serenella Sol with 2ArtiShop Custom Cookies by Stephanie Lorae Woodworking goods from the Drop-In Centre CRU Photography Papa Loaf Bread
