Phyllis Pastore: "The Last 30 Years", with John McMahon at the piano
With John McMahon at the piano
This show celebrates 30 years of living and singing in New York and Mykonos Greece. It contains music written by beloved composer Julie Gold, standards from Harold Arlen, Broadway favorites from the shows Waitress and Ballroom, specialty material, and a few surprises written by Phyllis herself! You might get a sneak preview of the music from Love and Other Fables, the new show written by John McMahon and Jay Jeffries. All this and a few stories, too!
Phyllis Pastore arrived from Colorado 30 years ago a fact she finds incredibly hard to believe. She was fully embraced by the NYC cabaret community, performing regularly at Dont Tell Mama, the Duplex, Roses Turn, and that gem of a club Eighty-Eights in the West Village. She was nominated for a MAC Award for her debut show and named Best Female Vocalist by Backstage Magazine. She performed at Town Hall and Symphony Space as a part of the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention and has become a regular performer in the esteemed Sondheim Unplugged at Feinsteins/54 Below. In 1993, Phyllis was invited to perform in Mykonos Greece and the famed Montparnasse/The Piano Bar. She has been performing in that venue for the past 26 seasons and has been mentioned by name in Fodors Travel Guide and Conde Nast Traveler as one of the main attractions of the island! The future holds exciting possibilities in Denver and the northern Colorado area as well as a tour in Germany. In recent years, Phyllis has taken on a new career as a commercial/film actress being featured in 2 national commercials and several voice-over projects. Phyllis is thrilled to bring her 30th anniversary show to Pangea on November 9. We look forward to seeing you all there! www.thephyllispastore.com
