Emma Citrine creates art that operates on barely-there flickers of hope and candid portrayals of pain. The versatile and excruciatingly intimate journey of this Vancouver-born songwriter weaves unvarnished emotion together with the raw vitality of indie music. Her hauntingly minimalistic sound crosses genres and will continue to provide assorted levels of musical and emotional exploration to the same listener at different times. Chronicling consuming stories that dig deep into depression, almost as if displaying her open wounds for the world to see, Citrine administers a delicate balance between self-deprecation and redemption.

Alicia Hansens third studio album marks her arrival at a place of artistic confidence, authenticity and clarity. Produced by Polaris and Juno Award-winning Jesse Zubot, (Tanya Tagaq, Fond of Tigers), Before You is a blend of gut-wrenching grit, lyrical beauty and courageous vulnerability.
From the PJ Harvey-esque I Disagree to echoes of Portishead in Tied to the Post, the listener is taken through the wide gamut of Hansens influences. Electronic shimmers in Before You highlight layers of counterpoint reminiscent of Brad Mehldau, while the startling contrast of Meristem and Battlestare reveal Hansens roots in modern jazz, prog-rock and 20th-century classical music.
Before You magnifies the essence of Hansens experimental pop thats both listenable and challenging (NOW Magazine). Unified by a calm candour but varying widely in tempo and tone, these eleven songs keep Hansens distinctive and enticing vocal work (Whole Note) at the forefront. Under Zubots masterful guidance, this album is accessible and impactful while accentuating the musics unique, excitingly original identity (Foxy Digitalis).
