Breaking the Cage
An evening of live music and the debut of our short documentary film that makes a compelling case for infusing music education with dynamic creativity.
Featuring:
Joe Kye - looping violinist and songwriter. Born in South Korea, and raised in Seattle, Joe draws on his migrant upbringing and blends indie-rock, jazz, classical, pop and world folk to create a unique sound that will leave you in awe. A former high school teacher, Joe is a new member of the BRAVO Board of Directors.
Cecille Elliott - BRAVO's Director of Creative Play and BRAVO Sitton Site Director. Cecille is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed and freelanced in various groups enjoying a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, folk, rock, pop, and more. BRAVO's new initiatives incorporating creativity and Collective Composition are a perfect fit with Cecille's diverse musical background and influences.
Seth Truby - BRAVO co-founder and Executive Director. Seth spends most of his time doing the fundraising and administrative support work that keep BRAVO happening at six program sites. He occasionally finds time for his own creative musical endeavors which include orchestral arranging, jazz piano, singing with the Portland Revels, and playing cowboy music in his family band.
Dan Sadowsky - Storymind Productions. With decades of experience in narrative storytelling through a variety of media, Dan has written for newspapers and magazines, created interactive web content, and produced multimedia stories for OPB. His video editing credits include 50 Feet From Syria, shortlisted for the 2016 Academy Award for Best Short Documentary.
