Advanced Marine Diesel Maintenance
This two-day Advanced Marine Diesel workshop is designed for mariners who are familiar with their engines on a basic level (or who have taken the Meredith Andersons "Introduction to Marine Diesels" in the spring of 2018). In this workshop, you will gain the hands-on experience to complement the concepts learned during the basic diesel course. You will learn basic diagnostics as well as tips and tricks for using the right tools for the job. You will turn wrenches yourself on a real training engine to practice removing and replacing various components; you will adjust the valves, remove injectors and much more! We will have a real Volvo Penta MD7a for practice, and tools and gloves will be provided for your use! Make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty as you will be doing the work with coaching by a professional marine diesel engineer and mechanic. Enrollment is limited so that everyone gets a chance to work on the engine - the spring classes sold out quickly!
The workshop will be held over Saturday and Sunday, beginning each day at 9:30 and ending at 4:00. We will take a break for lunch around noon.
