NCCU Jazz Faculty
The Jazz Studies Program at North Carolina Central University is under the leadership of saxophonist/flutist Dr. Ira Wiggins. NCCU Jazz Studies program offers study leading to the bachelor of music and master of music in Jazz Studies. NCCU was the first university in the state to offer the Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. The UNC university system named NCCU Jazz Studies as an Area of Distinction, the only jazz studies program in the state with this honor. The program has now evolved to add a comprehensive vocal jazz component and the Master of Music in Jazz Composition/Arranging and Jazz Performance. This concert will support the continuing activities of a historical and cultural landmark of North Carolina. The award-winning, internationally recognized faculty includes NEA Jazz master and muilti-GRAMMY winner saxophonist Branford Marsalis and pianist Joey Calderazzo. It promises to be a great night of Jazz, and you can learn more about upcoming features and degree offerings of NCCU Jazz Studies.
