UUCB Concerts for a Cause: DENNY BREAU TRIO
The Denny Breau Trio will bring their entertaining show to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick on May 11, 2019 at 7:30 pm. This will be the sixth concert of the 2018-19 Concerts for a Cause series that raises money for local charities. This seasons beneficiaries are The Gathering Place and the Brunswick Teen Center.
The Denny Breau Trio offers a wide variety of music styles, mixing genres with ease - folk, country, Delta blues, & jazz in a way that captivates and entertains the audience. Denny is a triple threat: a consummate picker, evocative songwriter, and a singer with a voice that is warm and inviting but completely unpretentious. Breaus rhythmically flawless and dazzlingly clear style allows him to do amazing and stunning things with a six-string guitar. The lighting fast guitar lines that seem almost impossible to accomplish are balanced with those that have a quiet intimacy and wrap tenderly around his carefully crafted songs.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Breau was born to music. His parents, Hal Lone Pine and Betty Cody, were popular country performers and RCA recording artists beginning in the 1940s. His older brother, the late Lenny Breau, is considered a jazz guitar giant. Denny has garnered numerous music awards himself such as the Maine Country Music Associations Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Instrumentalist of the Year many times over. He was inducted into the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004, the youngest inductee in the history of the organization.
TICKETS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE CHURCH OFFICE OR GULF OF MAINE BOOKS.
