Nisse Greenberg presents Ron Greenberg
When I was in college somebody told me the parable about the old man who came to shore to find millions of starfish washed ashore waiting to die in the low tide. He began throwing starfish back into the sea until some cynical middle aged loser came by and said "what's the point? There are too many, you can't make a difference." And the old man responded: "It will make a difference to that one" and he threw one starfish out into the sea. When I heard this parable I became angry. How did this random college student know about what happened to me and my dad?! My dad had told me that parable when I was a kid, but he told us that it happened to us. Was my whole life just a series of repackaged parables?!
Dads have historically been a response to their dads. And my dad's response to his dad was to be incredibly involved in every aspect of my life. So this is my present back to him: A solo show where I read the ideas he's sent me over the years to a room full of strangers in a blackbox theater.
