Mitchell Shuldman: My Senior (65+) Classical Guitar Recital
Mitch Shuldman has played guitar all but eight of his many years of life and continues his classical studies to this day. He holds a BA in music history with a concentration in classical guitar from SUNY Cortland, an MS in Library Science from Simmons College and an Ed.D from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Recently retired, Mitch served for 34 years as the Head of Librarys Division Media Services at UMass Lowell He also served for 8 years on the Portsmouth School Board four of them as chair.
Mitch is currently is an online student of Jason Vieaux (2015 Grammy Award winner for Best Classical Instrumental Album) through Artistworks - an online music and art school. He has previously studied with Carl Mano in Syracuse, NY, and Frank Wallace in Boston, MA. He sings with Portsmouth Pro Musica, and also performs in a classical flute and guitar duo called Noteworthy with flautist Linda Bieber.
Mitch was the host of a classical guitar radio show on NH Public radio (Excursions) in its early years (1980-84) and served as host of the nightly jazz show as well (1981-84). He is currently the curator for Guitar Sundays, a mostly classical guitar series here in Portsmouth that alternates performances between the Public Library and PMAC one Sunday a month.
