Lorenzo Farrell Trio featuring Joshi Marshall and Bryan Bowman
Organist Lorenzo Farrell debuts his new trio at Garden Gate Creativity Center on Thursday, April 18. Featuring Joshi Marshall on saxophone and Bryan Bowman, on drums, the trio will play a mix of original compositions, blues and jazz standards, and grooves inspired by New Orleans and Brazil, all built around the classic sound of the Hammond B3 organ. "I'm really lucky to have Joshi and Bryan with me for this show," says Lorenzo. "They are great musicians and great friends. Putting this trio together is something we've talked about over the years, and I'm excited it has all come together for this show at the Garden Gate. The audience should expect the unexpected! I've played with both these guys so much over the years, we're totally comfortable supporting each other, even, or especially, when the group interplay and improvisation takes us to places we've never been before. Featuring the sax, rather than the more typical guitar, in the organ trio setting, also opens up some new avenues of exploration and unique textural possibilities. I know that the audience will really enjoy our take on familiar--and not-so-familiar!--material. "
