Two-day workshop on Unmanned Aerial Systems in Agriculture
Day 1 (7:30 am to 5 pm) Topic 1: Introduction to UAS. Principles of flight. UAS types and classifications. Overview of small UAS components (airframes, powertrain, flight and nevi controllers, telemetry, etc.). Configuration, calibration and mission planning for first flight. Topic 2: Crop scouting drones. Technology overview. Sensor types & output data formats. Integrating sensor(s) with UAS. Topic 3: Sprayer drones. Technology overview. Sprayer attributes and flight autonomy (surgical and uniform spraying). Aerial chemical application regulations. Technology demonstrations.
Day 2 (7:30 am to 5 pm) Topic 4: Small UAS pilot certification & regulations. Rules, regulations & safety. Comprehensive overview of FAA Part 107 and UAS pilot certification preparation. Ethics & privacy. Topic 5: Hands-on flight training. Break into small groups and get hands-on UAS mission flying in agricultural environment. Topic 6: Drone data analytics overview. Basics steps in data analytics. Overview of data processing tools.
