Jill Soloway presents SHE WANTS IT: DESIRE, POWER, AND TOPPLING THE PATRIARCHY
This live event, brought to you by Women & Children First, takes places at the Waldorf auditorium and celebrates the publication of Jills explosive new book, SHE WANTS IT: Desire Power and Toppling the Patriarchy. Each ticket includes one copy of SHE WANTS IT. The evening promises a raucous conversation between Soloway and Hannah Gadsby, plus Q&A from the audience and special appearances by Pidgeon Pagonis, Claudia Martinez, and Elaine Soloway, and music by Faith Soloway. Soloway and SHE WANTS IT are uniquely positioned at the center of the current gender and consent conflagrations to offer new perspectives on dated and damaging he said/she said binaries. Jills transition -- from identifying as femme, female and straight -- to queer, masculine-of-center and nonbinary -- brings a pivotal new perspective and radical feminist philosophy to this moment. Like all of the events on Jills national book tour, the evening will be an instigating, participatory forum for thought leaders and audience alike to engage with the front lines of our ideas about gender, power, desire, and consent. The purchase of your ticket includes the event, a copy of the book, plus book signing and merch sales afterwards. The evenings vibe will mirror the book's passionate cri de coeur, so expect comedy and incendiary patriarchy-toppling notions. Special guests will take part in bringing to fruition Jills dream of creating a spectator sport around the dynamic of feminist arguing. For more information about last-minute additions of your favorite feminist thought leaders on the tour, please visit: https://shewantsitbook.com/ Jill Soloway is the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning creator of Transparent and I Love Dick. Their first feature film, Afternoon Delight, won the 2013 Directing Award at Sundance. Their work can also be seen in Six Feet Under, How to Make It in America, and United States of Tara. An activist and artist, Jill cofounded 5050by2020, a strategic initiative of Times Up, as well as East Side Jews, and the spoken word series Sit n Spin. Jill lives in Los Angeles.
Tickets are non-refundable. If you purchase a ticket and are unable to attend, you'll have 30 days after the event to pick up your copy of SHE WANTS IT at WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST. Proof of ticket purchase required.
