Behavioral Health Integration: The Integrative Care Approach, a Chemical Dependency Training Consortium Event
Goal of Training SAMHSA reports, "People living with mental illnesses and addictions can die decades before the general population mostly from untreated and preventable chronic illnesses like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease that are aggravated by poor health habits such as inadequate physical activity, poor nutrition, smoking, and substance abuse. Barriers to primary care coupled with challenges in navigating complex healthcare systems have been a major obstacle to healthcare."
This training is designed to increase awareness and use of integrated care by mental health, substance use disorder, and corrections counselors. This is an informational and experiential workshop to increase proficiency in providing an integrative care approach with other treating providers, including primary care, mental health and addictions treatment, and corrections. The training will focus on addressing the following considerations: What is integrated care? How does this help in my routine work? What is the evidence of its efficacy? How do I create treatment plans and notes demonstrating the integrative approach? How can I be more successful and effective in treating holistically?
Behavioral Objectives: This training will provide participants with the ability to: Define Integrated Care and relevance to Behavioral Health Treatment, Provide differentiation between integrated care versus coordinated care, Create approach for providing integrated care, Ensure implementation of integrated care in record content, and Identify ethical concerns and address identified dilemmas.
